I bake bread in it and get an even, luscious crust every time. I use it for stews and soups and pasta sauces. I wash the pot by hand, dry it immediately and put it away to avoid an accident; however, the enamel is thick and even. The textured, black enamel interior is easy to clean, as is the exterior. The bottom heats evenly without spots sticking and scorching. The heavy mass of the pot allows me to turn down the heat and maintain an even cooking temperature on the stovetop. It's a versatile size and shape and I love the color. When I saw what a wonderful quality this pot was, I ordered a set in blue for my daughter, who is delighted with them. I also ordered a larger round pot for my son and a larger oval one for me for roasting chicken and other meats.
