See Learn To Brew for the recommended care procedures for your bucket.

Superior Home Brew Beer Kit with 7.5 gallon Stainless Steel Stock Pot Review

Ordered this kit 2 weeks before Xmas and got it in time. My son and I never brewed beer before and once we started, we realized that there was only one thing that we needed that was not included in the kit: a large funnel to aid pouring the wort into the larger carboy. All the components are high quality, industry standards. The over sized pot makes boil overs less of an issue. The auto-siphon is an ingenious device. The bottle capper is really fun.

No ingredients are included, so a visit to our nearest brew shop was necessary and fun. Our first brew was a brown ale like Newcastle but hoppy-er. We loved it. We bought another 5 gal carboy so we can brew 2 batches a week apart. We've got a porter and a pale ale going this very moment. It is fascination to watch the biochemical reaction that takes place when the yeast is going full bore converting sugars to alcohol.

There are different ways to bottle the brew. One method is to siphon the 2nd fermentation from carboy to bottling bucket. Then connect the bottling tube to the bucket spigot and fill the bottles. Another method is to siphon the 2nd fermentation directly into the bottling tube to fill the bottles, skipping the bucket. We chose the latter and consequently do not use the racking tube or the bucket. We could have easily traded the bucket and racking tube for a no-spill large funnel, but we didn't know enough at the time. The included hops bags are not necessary if you use hops pellets. Also included is a large nylon mesh bag that we haven't used either.

For a no hassle start to brewing, I highly recommend this kit. As you get into it, there are other things that make brewing a bit easier, like the book, How to Brew by John Palmer, a wort cooling coil, no-rinse sanitizer powder, 2 re-usable nylon grain bags, and a long spoon for stirring.
