My girlfriend and I were looking for a fairly cheap kitchen table with some chairs because our old one was falling apart, so we went to walmart and found this set for about $120. We bought it and as soon as we got home I knew it might take about an hour or so to put the set together by myself, right? WRONG!
I started with the chairs because I figured I'd get them out of the way first so I'd have room on the floor to put the table together. The hex-bolts that are included to put the set together are quite possibly the weakest I have ever come across, and that's saying a lot because I put furniture together on a daily basis at my job. The edges of the bolts kept getting rounded off whenever I was tightening them, so they would be somewhat okay but definitely not sturdy. Then when I got to putting the seat cushions on I realized that you literally have to drill the screw into the bottom of the cushion as there were no pre-drilled holes to align the seat correctly on the chair. If you have a good eye then this might not be a problem but if you're a perfectionist with OCD like I am then it will drive you crazy. Finally I put the metal frame of the table together, obviously experiencing the same tightening problem as I did with the chairs, and when I was about to put the tabletop on I realized there were no pre-drilled holes for that either. This is an exact quote from the instructions:

"Place the tabletop upside down on a flat, smooth surface. Place previously assembled table frame upside down onto tabletop and center the frame onto it. Use Phillips head screwdriver to install Phillips round head screws.
NOTE: Phillips round head screws will make their own holes. Do not use power tools and do not over tighten screws."

Now once again if you're a perfectionist this will drive you absolutely insane. There are absolutely no markers to help you align the frame to the table so you can either give it your best shot and live with the possibility that it is off-center, or you can get a measuring tape and meticulously align all the screw holes to the exact centered position they should be in. Now comes the fun part: drilling in the screws with just a screwdriver. Now of course you can be a rebel and use a powertool but in my line of work I usually just end up with stripped screw-heads and I didn't want to take the chance on my own kitchen table. I will say this, the tabletop is very sturdy, so if you go the screwdriver route like I did then be prepared because it is going to take you a long, long time. It is not nearly as easy or simple as the instructions make it out to be so don't even try to be optimistic about it.
Yes the table itself is nice once it's finished, I will say that much. But it was a complete pain in the @$$ to put together when it could have been designed so much better and it would have taken a fraction of that time to assemble. If you are looking for a cheap, nice looking table then this is a good one. If you are looking for something simple that won't have you ripping out your own hair then buy something else.
