This was not originally the piece of furniture I wanted for my new 60" plasma. Truth be, I thought there were nicer stands out there in the same price range but settled on this particular Bell'O model simply because the shelves had at least 10" clearance for my center channel speaker. Most of the other stands had less than 9" of space to spare.

I have been putting together furniture most of my life. I did it for a living in my early 20's when I worked in a video store and had to put them together to put on display. Bell'O has been around forever and I have found them to be a company that is very reputable and known for quality.

So, I was anticipating a rather easy time putting together this particular stand. That did not be the case.

I spent a good 15 minutes just staring at the first page of instructions. That's because the first thing you need to do is put together 3 frame pieces that almost look exactly the same. The problem is, Bell'O makes no effort to label the pieces. The least they could have done is put small circular stickers on each piece so that you knew that you were picking up frame MC instead of frame ME.

The second problem was the absence of a parts list. There were assembly directions but no parts list for the screws that were included. I actually had to call Bell'O customer service happily emailed me a PDF file which listed the different types of screws and a ruler to measure them. Yes, a ruler. You see, the other problem is that the parts are listed in metric and without that little ruler you would never be able to tell a 25mm from a 30mm screw.

So, once I got all the information that should have been included in the box sent to my email the rest of the assembly progress went rather well. Though the directions called for a 2-person assembly I was able to easily assemble it myself in well under an hour.

I was rather surprised as to how nice the furniture looked. With all my equipment, speakers and surrounding stands all being solid black I wasn't necessarily looking forward to introducing espresso legs into the mix. However, they do look rather classy. The glass shelves are very heavy and can support considerable weight.

This is the perfect stand for a plasma in the 60" range and where you need more height between the shelving for equipment which is a very rare thing to find. I searched hundreds of stands before I came upon this one.

My advice is to make certain that the parts list comes included in your box.
